Google’s Penguin algorithm has finally been updated after a wait of nearly 2-years. As the name suggested, it’s the 4th major and probably the last update of this type since its birth. As per the Google’s official statement, “Penguin 4.0 now runs in the real-time within the core search algorithm.”

Penguin 4.0 is basically a filter intended to incarcerate sites that are spamming search results in a way that are undetectable by regular Google’s spamming systems. It was introduced way back in 2012, but ran on an episodic basis. Penguin 3.0 was the last update, which was launched on 17th October, 2014 and the sites captured by this filter have waited for about 2 years to liberate.
